Connors Teresa Marie
Teresa is active in many aspects of creative practice as an acoustic/electroacoustic composer, multimedia installation artist, opera singer and film scorer. Originally from Newfoundland, Canada, Teresa's creative works have received awards and support from the Canada Council for the Arts, British Columbia Arts Council, Bravo Fact and have been presented at international conferences, film festivals, and galleries.
Teresa studied music composition and opera singing at Dalhousie University and the Banff Center for the Arts, and completed her PhD, Audiovisual Installation as Ecological Performativity, at the University of Waikato (2017), New Zealand.
Her current postdoctoral research with the International Institute for Critical Studies in Improvisation (IICSI) at Memorial University of Newfoundland expands on her work in non-linear creative systems and the use of environmental data as a co-creative apparatus within an immersive and improvisational audiovisual system.
Teresa has previously lectured in creative coding and creative practice at Waikato University (2014–2016) and instructed singing, piano and guitar at the White Rock School of Music and Dance (1999–2004).
