Sammoutis Evis

Evis Sammoutis (b.1979) is Assistant Professor of Composition and Theory at Ithaca College, NY and Artistic Director of the annual Pharos Arts Foundation International Contemporary Music Festival. His compositions often explore in an evocative manner the relationship between harmony and timbre and the use of unorthodox methods of playing musical instruments. His works have been commissioned by many leading festivals and organizations such as the Venice Biennale, Klangspuren and Royaumont and performed in more than 35 countries. He has been awarded several prestigious and highly competitive awards such as the Royal Philharmonic Society Award.
