Evans Nancy

Nancy Evans is Director of Learning & Participation for BCMG. She has worked with the group since 2000, initially as their first Education Manager. Nancy studied trumpet at the RNCM and has an MA in Community Music from the University of York. Nancy is passionate about creating opportunities for young people to compose, perform and listen to new music. In particular she is interested in developing the pedagogy and practice of composing with young people through bringing together composers, educators and researchers.

Previously, Nancy also worked extensively delivering early years music activity.  She has conceived and led training programmes for musicians and early years practitioners working in early years settings for a range of organisations including: The London Symphony Orchestra; The Wigmore Hall; The Royal Scottish National Orchestra; and, The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic. She is author of Tuning in to Children, a Youth Music publication created to support Youth Music and the Association of British Orchestra’s Cluster Programme.

Nancy was a research assistant for Exeter University as part of the MIROR Project – an EU funded project investigating the use of new interactive music software developed by SONY France.  She also works in Beirut, Lebanon with Al Jana, the Arab Resource Centre for Popular Arts, training NGO staff from Palestinian refugee camps to create music with young people.
