Butcher John
John Butcher has since the early 80s collaborated with hundreds of musicians – including Derek Bailey, Rhodri Davies, David Toop, Christian Marclay, Eddie Prevost, Fred Frith, Polwechsel, John Tilbury and Okkyung Lee. Additionally he values occasional encounters - from the WDR Sinfonieorchester to duos with Akio Suzuki, Keiji Haino, Otomo Yoshihide, Sophie Agnel, Yuji Takahashi and Joe McPhee.Butcher’s music ranges through improvisation, his own compositions, multitracked pieces and explorations with feedback and unusual acoustics. Recent compositions include “Penny Wands” for Futurist Intonarumori, two HCMF commissions, “Good Liquor…” for the London Sinfonietta and “Tarab Cuts” (shortlisted for a 2014 British Composer’s Award).
